Epicor, a global leader dedicated to providing integrated enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM), supply chain management (SCM), and professional service automation (PSA) software solutions to midmarket companies and divisions of the Global 1000, announced yesterday that it would be acquiring Spectrum Human Resource Systems Corporation.
Epicor delivers end-to-end, industry-specific solutions for manufacturing, distribution, retail, hospitality, and services aimed at increasing efficiency, improving performance, and building competitive advantage. With the addition of Spectrum’s solution, Epicor will now have a dedicated human capital management (HCM) application.
In 2009, as part of certifying the Spectrum iVantage human resource information system (HRIS), I had the opportunity to see a demonstration of the product’s capabilities. In my opinion, overall, it is a highly flexible and scalable solution for the midmarket business. With its robust personnel management and benefits modules, iVantage HRIS is a good solution for businesses that view these elements as high priorities. From my discussions with the folks at Spectrum, it was clear that it takes its customers’ opinions very seriously and, as such, the iVantage solution was developed and enhanced with its customers’ needs in mind. Its primary focus is on the “user experience.” Eric Greenberg, Spectrum’s Director of Sales, told us during the certification meeting that “it’s important for Spectrum to know that the way the system is designed will make it worthwhile logging in every day.”
The Spectrum product will be available to Epicor’s customers as a component that when integrated with Epicor’s ERP solution will greatly extend its HCM capabilities. Delivery options that will be available include on-premise, hosted/managed services, or software-as-a-service (SaaS). There is no doubt that this combined solution will offer the end-to-end coverage that many of today’s midmarket organizations could only dream of—until now.
The acquisition should be a done deal by the end of this year. Read the press release (PDF file).
