Lawson Software, a global enterprise resource planning (ERP) software vendor, announced on December 20 that it will acquire Enwisen; a privately owned software-as-as-service (SaaS)-based human capital management (HCM) software vendor based in Navato, California and currently with around 260 customers.
Lawson is no stranger to Enwisen. In fact, since 2008, Lawson has been reselling Enwisen’s AnswerSource product to Lawson customers. Following in competitor Epicor’s footsteps, Lawson is looking to further develop its strength in the human capital software market, where it is already doing quite well. With the addition of the Enwisen’s HR Service Delivery component, along with its know-how in the area of human capital management, the acquisition will undoubtedly strengthen Lawson’s existing capabilities.
With more than 1,000 customers using Lawson’s Human Capital Management products, HCM is a significant component of Lawson’s business. With the acquisition, Enwisen customers will be able to benefit from Lawson’s HR service delivery solutions as a key component of HR transformation (e.g., by focusing on adding business value rather than simply on basic HR transactions).
As Larry Dunivan, Lawson’s Senior VP of Global HCM products puts it, “the functionality will give organizations the ability to transform the way they deliver HR services and—in combination with our Workforce Management, Human Resource, and Talent Management systems— allow us to deliver a market-leading product footprint to our customers.”
The HR Service Delivery solution can be purchased and implemented independently or as part of the total Lawson HCM suite.
The $70-million plus transaction is expected to close by December 31, 2010.
