We recently certified SimplyDigi’s learning management suite (LMS) , and I wanted to share my first impressions of the product with you. SimplyDigi was founded in Delaware (US) in 1999 and offers two products: SimplyDigi LMS/LCMS (Learning Content Management System) and DigiCast (for live classroom and meeting events). Both solutions were developed entirely in-house by SimplyDigi, and the company prides itself on being entirely independently financed.
The certification demo was conducted by Bruce Stabile, Chief Operating Officer (COO) and one of the founders of the company. He’s a veteran of the LMS field, and has been recognized six times by the Information Week 500 list of IT Innovators. Here are some of my findings, which I’ll describe in more detail in my upcoming certification report (see our library of current certification reports):
• SimplyDigi LMS has an attractive and user-friendly interface. It’s entirely Web-based and lends itself to easy user customization.
• Besides traditional functionality for learning, SimplyDigi also offers features for collaboration between learners and e-commerce for course vendors.
• The product is functionally rich, and indeed according to TEC data provides more functionality for most modules than the average LMS solution (compare LMS solutions here).
New features are added every month based on both customer feedback and the product roadmap. Features planned for future release include a full e-commerce store, academic functionality, Apple iOS support, extended application programming interfaces (APIs) for integration, DigiCast recording, WebEx integration, and functionality for employee performance review.
SimplyDigi’s vision is to provide the most technically advanced LMS in the industry, while nevertheless making it easy for non-technical users to use. One way SimplyDigi achieves this is by re-developing the solution every 3 to 4 years to include new technologies, thus making it more flexible and user friendly. SimplyDigi also partners with hardware providers such as HP, Dell, and MITEL, as well as software vendors like ImagiLearning, Future Source Solutions, and DETAC.
SimplyDigi is a strong competitor with other LMS providers such as Meridian Knowledge Solutions, OutStart, SumTotal, and Blackboard. Compare these products now.
