As follows from its name, Bearings International is a distributor of a wide range of imported bearings and power transmission equipment. The company is located in South Africa and has more than 50 branches and other subsidiaries. The company has been using a number of UNIX-based legacy software applications that have been modified several times but eventually have come to the end of their tether. Thus, a modern, flexible, and technologically advanced system was required to support the growing business and help to explore new opportunities.
A selection and valuation project was performed by the company, based on multiple selection criteria, such as scalability, competitive total cost of ownership, and, certainly, functionality, particularly that available for company sales management, stock control and inventory management, and remote access to the system via various mobile devices.
As a result of this ERP selection project, Sage ERP X3 was preferred as the single end-to-end system that fit all the existing and future requirements of Bearings International.
Although the first go-live is scheduled for April 2013, the entire project is supposed to extend with Sage CRM and obviously will take longer—from 2 to to 3 years for all subdivisions.
