While the tagline didn’t really tickle my fancy, it’s evidence that Dassault Systèmes’ novel go-to-market approach is apparently by industry. Within each industry, there are multiple “experiences”—software packages that address specific business needs, if you will. The “Licensed to Cure” solution looks like a core product lifecycle management (PLM) functionality package for medical device manufacturers (similar to the recent “Perfect Shelf” experience for retail and consumer goods manufacturing).
In plain English, the Licensed to Cure offering enables medical devices manufacturers to handle the complex relationships between product innovation, quality assurance (QA), and stringent regulatory compliance. This is an area where Oracle’s Agile PLM is very strong, and both Agile PLM and some Oracle ERP systems focus on this vertical. PTC has also been gaining some significant traction in the life sciences vertical of late, whereas Infor and SAP might have a number of existing customers although it is not necessarily an area of their PLM focus.
