RDO Equipment distributes, sells, services, and rents construction and agricultural equipment. The company operates the largest network of John Deere retail stores in the United States, and it also sells Vermeer and Topcon equipment, with customers in more than 60 locations across the US. The company has announced that it is leveraging the UltiPro human capital management (HCM) solution for increased employee engagement, HR operational effectiveness, and strategic workforce analytics and reporting.
With approximately 1,700 employees throughout the US, RDO Equipment found it needed to replace the disparate and complex solutions it was using for HR and payroll with a single system of record that was accessible, convenient, and easy to use. The payroll portion of the legacy financial package didn’t meet the company’s needs for HR and reporting. RDO’s due diligence was reportedly over an extended amount of time and wrapped up in 2007. The company looked at other vendors periodically but the major comparisons were between Ultimate and the legacy solution.
RDO reportedly picked Ultimate because the vendor offered a full recruitment-through-retirement feature set that would allow RDO to deliver information to its employees via a ‘one-stop-shop’ portal. The company also liked Ultimate’s training offerings (on-site, web, etc., free of charge) and the ability to add features as the organization grew. RDO Equipment Co. went live on UltiPro in 2008 and has reportedly seen a high adoption rate among its employees.
