Cabela’s, the world’s largest direct marketer of hunting, fishing, camping, and related outdoor merchandise, has chosen PTC Windchill FlexPLM software, PTC’s product lifecycle management (PLM) solution for retail. The company will be using PTC’s PLM solutions to manage the entire life cycle of its apparel products from conception, through design, technical design, sourcing, and manufacturing, to commercialization.
Cabela’s reportedly considered Dassault Systèmes, TradeStone Software, and Centric Software in addition to PTC. The company quickly eliminated the first two and considered PTC and Centric as finalists. It selected PTC because of PTC’s experience in retail, deep functional capabilities to support all aspects of retail (across the organization and product category), and proven value as realized with customers of similar size and scale. It was PTC’s market position and experience that put PTC over the top. But Centric Software has also been doing well in the market lately, and it can cite recent wins with Tally Weijl, Petsmart, JD Sports, and Easton Bell Sports.
