IBM announced a new cloud-based solution as part of its IBM SmartCloud for Social Businesses platform. The product includes new social networking features and a new collaboration and document-sharing tool—IBM SmartCloud Docs. The application accommodates the creation, storing, and co-editing of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation documents, in real time.
IBM SmartCloud Docs permits peers to simultaneously work on the same document, in the cloud, since the tool displays the names of participants and highlights their contributions as they type. Furthermore, instant messaging capabilities offer users the option to chat with each other while working on the same document.
The press release mentions new in-cloud features for IBM Connections, which allow employees, clients, and partners to collaborate via community-based blogs, wikis, idea-generation blogs, and file viewers.
IBM SmartCloud Docs is available in IBM SmartCloud Engage Advanced service, IBM SmartCloud Engage Standard service as well as through IBM Connections.
