Rice Package Solutions has selected the Epicor AVP solution to replace its legacy accounting and homegrown solutions. The Epicor AVP solution is one of the few enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions designed specifically for the packaging industry. Epicor AVP industry-specific capabilities for folding carton manufacturers including costing calculations to for managing different cartons, displays, assemblies, and combo runs, and scheduling that understands tooling, materials, artwork, and die availability.
Epicor’s $155 million acquisition of Solarsoft in the fall of 2012 brought Epicor AVP into the fold. The acquisition was aimed at increasing Epicor’s strengths in key vertical industries and strengthening its manufacturing and distribution segments. Epicor hasn’t lost any momentum with Epicor AVP for packaging manufactures and continues to win against other solutions in this very focused vertical market.

Workday, Inc., a leading provider of cloud applications for human resources (HR) and finance, unwrapped its latest update, Workday 19. In total, Workday 19 includes more than 170 new features, with approximately 70 coming from the Workday Brainstorm forum. Each Workday upgrade adds more capabilities, and Workday 19 is no different. The Workday press release doesn’t do justice to these new features, but I attended Workday’s analyst briefing and will give more insight into the new features.

Daptiv has announced that Delta Dental of New Jersey (DDNJ) selected the Daptiv Project Portfolio Management (PPM) solution to help it improve efficiency and accuracy in managing primarily information technology (IT) projects. DDNJ is a New Jersey dental benefits company, providing or administering coverage to more than 1.5 million people through contracts with employers in New Jersey and Connecticut. Smartling, Inc., a provider of cloud-based enterprise translation management solutions, announced support for a broad range of business documents, including those created using the Microsoft Office suite and Adobe InDesign, with other common formats to come. The new features will be debuted at the GALA (Globalization and Localization Association) 2013 conference in Miami Beach.

IC-Tag Solutions has introduced an radio frequency identification (RFID) Jumpstart Kit called the “IC-DEMO.” IC-DEMO is a complete RFID demo system that allows users to determine how RFID will work in their environment. The kit allows users to become familiar with RFID and test or develop applications. The IC-DEMO Jumpstart Kit comes with a collection of tags that span a variety of types, forms, and vendors (Avery Dennison, Smartrac, and Alien Technology) which includes on-metal and low-cost tags. All that’s needed to configure and test the solution is IC-DEMO and a laptop.
Tag selection is a critical part of any RFID application. The kit allows engineers to set up a working demo and test the impacts of temperature, power, and an assortment of environmental factors easily and at a very low cost.

Infor has announced that the Iowa Health System (IHS) has chosen to implement a full suite of the Infor Healthcare products across IHS’s hospital network. IHS has relationships with 28 hospitals, sees 3.1 million patient visits per year, and has a network of more than 24,000 employees.
IHS will use Infor products for finance, supply chain, and human resources. The Infor Healthcare suite of products to be implemented at IHS includes Infor Lawson Enterprise Financial Management system, Infor Lawson Supply Chain Management, and Infor Human Resources Management. Awarepoint Corporation announced an agreement with Baystate Health to install the Awarepoint real-time location system (RTLS) at the first of the health system’s three hospitals. The initial deployment will occur at Baystate Medical Center. This deployment will cover 1.3 million square feet and track 3,000 assets. Bunchball, a vendor of gamification solutions, announced a new release of its Nitro for Salesforce product. The new release extends Bunchchall’s game mechanics service organizations using the Salesforce Service Cloud. This release makes Nitro for Salesforce the only fully integrated gamification solution available from within the Salesforce Service Cloud and Sales Cloud.
The product uses motivational techniques like goal-setting, real-time feedback, competition, and virtual rewards to engage and motivate service agents. For example, members of the service team can be rewarded for achieving various productivity milestones like training course completions.
